Festival On the Nile XXXVII Featuring
Dawn (Ga)

Dawn is a first generation belly dancer with over 30 years experience. She started her career in south Florida training nightly in Mediterranean nightclubs with live bands and knowing audiences.. She supported herself dancing throughout the U.S. , Canada , S. America and N. Africa . She had the pleasure of performing with some of the great singers such as Eddie "the Sheik" Kojak and George Abdo, as well as all the top musicians. By studying and performing with many of the greats in belly dance, she has honed her skill to the master level.

Some of her accomplishments include master choreographer for the Cypress Creek Marriott Hotel's Grand Ballroom international show for five consecutive years. She has sponsored dance seminars through her "Eye of the Pyramid" production company. She is the creative director of Troupe A.M.E.N.A., a multi-talented group of ladies that bring belly dance to the Bible belt, through fund-raisers and haflas. Dawn is also the co-founder of the Wingmen Breast Cancer Run every October, merging belly dance with motorcycles to further awareness of breast cancer and giving all proceeds to a local family in crisis. She hosts "9 Cintensives" to target specific areas of dance for those wishing to further their knowledge, as well as "Stitch-n-Bitch" sessions for costume construction. She has also been Mistress of Ceremonies for Festival on The Nile for many years.

Being a club dancer, her favorite style of dance is Egyptian Cabaret but is well-versed in Turkish, Tribal and Fusion, as well.

Dawn is an excellent instructor that believes in sharing her wealth of knowledge with her students. For the past 20 years, she's had perpetual classes for beginners to professional levels. She continues her studies by attending seminars and studying the latest fusions to keep her dance cutting edge. Her enthusiasm for this beautiful, amazing, healing dance form is contagious.
